Congrats Michael!

QA Graphics extends a big congratulations to their lead Flash developer, Michael Saathoff. He and his wife Kelly welcomed a baby boy to their family this weekend! Baby Weston Michael was born Saturday, weighing 5lbs 4oz and is 19.5 inches long. Congrats Michael and Kelly!

Cost-Effective Design for Green Schools

American School & University magazine’s article, “Cost-Effective Design for Green Schools” discusses how getting occupants involved is just as important as designing a sustainable building. Promoting this user awareness can be done through providing sustainable curriculum and providing real-time building performance data.

Energy management remains a hot topic. The spotlight on energy efficiency continues to increase globally, according to the 2011 Energy Efficiency Indicator 1, a survey that has studied the interest in energy efficiency over the past five years. The study tracked almost 4,000 global executives and building owners throughout North America, who are responsible for energy management and investment decisions in commercial and public-sector buildings. The World Food Prize Hall of Laureates is educating the public about the sustainable renovation of their century-old building with an interactive display created by QA Graphics. Visitors can view a dashboard which provides real-time energy usage information and variety of features that educate about the sustainable building practices.

QA Graphics is proud to announce the hiring of Josh Miller. Josh has been hired as the company’s newest graphic designer.

He has joined the company’s interactive design team to assist in creating designs for rich internet applications, touchscreen applications and mobile applications. A majority of his work will involve designing for QA Graphics’ award-winning solution, the Energy Efficiency Education Dashboard®.

LEED-Certified Dorm Sets College Precedent

Congratulations to Eastern Mennonite University (EMU) on attaining the USGBC’s LEED “gold” certification for their Cedarwood residence hall. This is the first residence hall in Virginia to attain gold certification—one of 33 to achieve this coveted certification in the United States! QA Graphics is thrilled to have worked with Eastern Mennonite University to include an Energy Efficiency Education Dashboard in the commons area of the hall, providing students with real-time feedback on energy usage along with education on what makes their living space so sustainable.  Learn more about this LEED-certified dorm.
