The Showcase Your School’s Green Efforts contest was launched Monday, February 15. QA Graphics is calling for entries from schools nationwide, asking them to share what steps have been taken to green their school. Teachers, faculty and administrators can enter the contest on behalf of their school by submitting a short essay describing what the school has done to be more sustainable, and will have a chance to win an educational tool that can be used at their school to showcase these green initiatives. QA Graphics wants to reward schools for their sustainable efforts and provide a solution that will help educate the next generation about being green. They will award two schools with an Energy Efficiency Education Dashboard to showcase the schools’ green initiatives. The Energy Efficiency Education Dashboard is an interactive solution used to showcase a building’s green initiatives. It can be incorporated into the school’s curriculum, providing education on how sustainable features help the environment and how everyone at the school can make a difference. Each prize is valued at approximately $7,000 each. All contest entries must be submitted by April 9. QA Graphics is working with the national U.S. Green Building Council to reach out to state USGBC chapters for support and assistance with the contest and judging of the entries. A team of judges will review the entries and select five finalists from entries provided by kindergarten through 5th grade schools and five finalists from entries provided by 6th through 12th grade schools. Finalists will be announced April 26 and their entries will be displayed on http://www.qagraphics.com April 26 – May 9 for schools and their communities to vote on the final two winners, which will be announced May 10. QA Graphics looks forward to seeing schools’ entries from across the country. “We’re proud of the work our nation’s schools do to provide a healthier and more sustainable environment,” said Dan McCarty, president and owner of QA Graphics. “It’s important that these initiatives are shared with the students, faculty and the community. We’re excited that this effort and our Energy Efficiency Education Dashboard will help increase awareness of these school’s environmental efforts and showcase their achievements.”
