(Ankeny, IA) QA Graphics, a provider of educational solutions for green buildings, is asking schools nationwide to explain why their school is green for a chance to win an educational tool which can be used to demonstrate how those sustainable efforts help the school and the environment. Contest for Schools

QA Graphics wants to reward schools for their sustainable efforts and provide a solution that will help educate the next generation about being green. As part of QA Graphics’ Showcase Your School’s Green Efforts contest, the company is calling for entries from schools nationwide, asking them to share what steps have been taken to green their school.

Teachers, faculty, and administrators can enter the contest on behalf of their school by submitting a short essay describing what the school has done to be more sustainable. QA Graphics will award the two winning schools with an Energy Efficiency Education Dashboard. The Energy Efficiency Education Dashboard (EEED) is an interactive solution used to showcase a building’s green initiatives. It can be incorporated into the school’s curriculum, using interactive demonstrations, quizzes and games to provide education about the sustainable features and how they help the environment. The content can also be edited, using a simple content management system, so that the school can continue to use the EEED as part of its curriculum. Each prize is valued at approximately $7,000 each.

Schools must submit their entry by April 9.  QA Graphics is working with the national U.S. Green Building Council to reach out to state USGBC chapters for support and assistance with the contest and judging of the entries.  A team of judges will review the entries and select five finalists each from entries provided by grades K-5 and 6-12. The finalists will be announced April 26 and their entries will be displayed on QA Graphics’ website, from April 26 – May 9 for schools and their communities to vote on the final two winners, which will be announced May 10. Schools can learn more about the contest and submit their entry at: http://www.qagraphics.com/showcase-your-schools-green-efforts-contest.

QA Graphics looks forward to seeing schools’ entries from across the country. “We’re excited to hear from schools to learn what sustainable changes they are making,” said Dan McCarty, president and owner of QA Graphics. “Our Energy Efficiency Education Dashboard will help increase the awareness of the schools’ environmental efforts. It’s important that these achievements are shared with the school’s staff, students and the community.”
