Contact: (Ankeny, Iowa) QA Graphics, a graphic design firm specializing in environmental and building automation system design and animation, is proud to announce the Iowa Capitol’s green initiative is made possible by its Energy Efficiency Education Dashboard. Positioned inside the Capitol Building and available to the public, the “Eye on Energy” kiosk is easy to understand, interactive, and educational. QA Graphics supports the Capitol Building’s green initiative and is pleased to display this information on a 42-inch touch screen LCD encased in a walnut cabinet. The EEED, or “Eye on Energy” kiosk, can access real-time data on energy consumption of all 14 buildings on the Capitol Complex. The touch screen allows users to view the building’s green features, which include the sustainability practices of the building, as well as utility monitoring pages and educational pages that allow the user to digitally tour the Capitol Complex. With the implementation of Executive Order Number 6, Iowa’s government is committed to increasing the use of renewable energy and promoting energy efficient technologies. The Capitol Building has made great strides by reducing its overall energy consumption and increasing its efficiencies, thus setting a great example for the rest of the state. In addition to its positive environmental impact, the state is saving tax payers hundreds of thousands of dollars each year. “Iowa’s Capitol Building has made a phenomenal effort in achieving environmentally sustainable measures, and as an Iowa company, we are excited to be a part of the project,” said Dan McCarty, president and founder of QA Graphics. “It was fun to develop the site plan of our very own State Capitol, using 3D models to precisely replicate the campus. Also, we are hoping that visitors who use the display will get a good sense of the cost-savings associated with energy-saving practices.” The EEED used in the Capitol Building is an industry-leading GUI solution used to educate the public on its energy efficiency, as it has the ability to easily acquire data from the building’s automation system and report it using a preconfigured gateway device. The data is directly connected to a browser which causes the GUI to become interactive when used with touch screen hardware. All together, the solutions make reporting the metrics of the Capitol Building’s automation system easier to read and understand. About QA Graphics |
