Timberview is Keller Independent School Districts newest addition, our greenest school to date and will be going for Silver LEED certification.  The Timberview project team aimed to accomplish four design goals.

1. Create a healthy and comfortable environment that would encourage learning.
2. Use the facility as a teaching tool for environmental design and stewardship.
3. Make a resource and energy efficient building that would reduce operating costs, leaving more district money available for classroom spending.
4. Alternative transportation- We are allocating 2 parking spots to electric vehicles.

Electrical:
We are reducing the electric use by more than 28 percent by maximizing natural light, using efficient light fixtures and adding controls like occupant sensors. With the exterior lighting we are reducing light pollution and are saving about 50 percent of the electricity while still maintaining the city requirements. We have introduced an “energy garden.” We will have a 10KW solar panel array located close to the technology room. We hope to have students help clean the panels and measure the performance. We have also filed for rebates and hope to be adding a wind turban so that students can see mechanical energy being transferred to electrical. While the solar panels will offset the exterior lighting we are going ahead and getting 30 percent of our power from green sources for the next two years.

Water:
We are reducing the water use by 40 percent from ASHRE standards by using waterless urinals. This combined with the 50 percent reduction in the irrigation by using drip hoses in the flower beds, water efficient landscaping and smart controllers to make every drop count.

Recycling:
We recycle paper, plastic, aluminum and we have added a construction waste program. Our site has diverted 90 percent of our construction waste from landfills using reclaiming and recycling programs.

Indoor Air Quality:
As the HVAC duct is installed they wiped out the interior and then covered the ends to prevent any dust or air born materials to settle in the ductwork. We are also using Low VOC emitting materials that are being utilized through the entire building.

Cleanign:
Timberview follows a green initiative with 36 other schools to only clean with green seal certified cleaners. The whole custodial cleaning system is made of microfiber material, which eliminates the use of feather dusters, and regular mops and rags as well as the redistribution of dust and debris and keeps the environment chemical free.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
