In 2024 and 2025, one message has come through loud and clear from building automation system (BAS) integrators across the country: skilled field technicians are overextended. With labor shortages still impacting the industry, companies are realizing that keeping technicians focused on their primary responsibilities—installing and servicing systems—requires rethinking internal workflows.
The Hidden Burden: BAS Graphics and Floor Plans
We regularly hear from system integrators who have their field technicians managing not just installation, but also graphic creation, system floor plans, and UI configuration. While this might seem efficient on the surface, the reality is often costly:
- Slower deployments
- More errors due to multitasking
- Burnout from non-core responsibilities
- Missed revenue from delayed installs
The Shift: Partnering with a Graphics-Only Provider
QA Graphics has seen a marked increase in companies choosing to outsource their graphics packages—including BAS UI design, 2D/3D floor plans, and Tridium or MUI graphics—directly to our in-house team of experts.
Here’s why:
- Speed: We have standardized templates for Trane, JCI, Schneider, and Niagara N4, which reduce turnaround time.
- Quality: All work is completed in-house by trained designers—not subcontractors.
- Clarity: Our vector symbol libraries and layered 3D HVAC visuals help end users quickly interpret system data.
- Consistency: We help establish design standards that simplify maintenance across large campuses or portfolios.
Field Teams Regain Focus
By shifting the graphics workload to QA Graphics, our partners report measurable improvements:
- More time for field techs to focus on installs and service
- Fewer project delays
- Standardized, repeatable visuals across multiple jobs
- Faster closeout packages for commissioning
Let Us Stay in Our Lane—So You Can Excel in Yours
As an agnostic design firm, QA Graphics doesn’t sell hardware or controls—we only support those who do. That means we’re never in competition with your core business. Our job is to make your systems look better, install faster, and function more intuitively.
If your BAS team is still spending hours building floor plans or tweaking UI screens, let’s talk. It’s time to reclaim that time and put your experts where they matter most.
