QA Graphics recently partnered with the top aircraft engine suppliers to provide a larger range of services that utilized the companies many talents. The client came to QA with a common opportunity within the building automation industry.
The top aircraft engine suppliers recently upgraded their building automation system (BAS) across their campus. Although the client has very talented control engineers to install controls and build BAS graphics, they looked to QA Graphics to complement those efforts and to let their engineers focus on other tasks at hand. This lead to the following services provided by QA Graphics:
Navigation & Exterior Renderings
Floor Plans
The client wanted each building to have an accurate 3D rendering of every building floor plan with detailed information on each. The floor plans consisted of multiple floors that vary in the scale of size, as well as zoned and unzoned views. To achieve this, column numbers were included on each floor plan to help pinpoint for reference, as well as each floor was zoned into several areas on the floor plans. These smaller sections were then each zoned into mechanical zones, that were provided by the client. This will allow for the end user to have easier control.

These improvements include the addition of items such as doors, elevators, stairs, and curtain walls, as well as being lighter in appearance and a new viewing angle. These product offerings will enhance the building detail options of zoning with duct work, windows, built-ins, railings, and furnishings.

Project Spotlight: Floor Plans, Exterior Renderings, BAS Equipment Images
QA Graphics recently partnered with CEC Facilities Group, the fastest growing electrical, technology, and mechanical contracting company in Texas, to provide a larger range of services that utilized the companies many talents.
CEC came to QA Graphics needing us to provide graphical renderings that would impact the project close ratio and provide an easy to understand User Interface that visually appealing. This lead to the following services provided by QA Graphics
Floor Plans
CEC wanted their headquarters to have an accurate 3D rendering of every floor with details down to the location of furniture, including telephones and plants. The client provided detailed information for the project, down to the texture of the flooring, lighting positions, and wall paint colors, giving the floor plans the most accurate look. The way that the floor plans were laid out for the building gave our CAD Specialist the opportunity to try a new technique that was highlighted in a Revit training held at the end of last year. This new technique made our specialist more efficient and brought a better result for the client. CEC also opted to have floor plans that consisted of their duct system and air handling unit locations as well. Using mechanical and CAD drawings to pin point the location of ducts and lighting allowed for this alternative view to come to life.
Exterior Renderings
QA Graphics worked with CEC to provide a photorealistic 3D exterior perspective rendering of their headquarters. The client provided useful information that allowed for our 3D Specialist to gain insight as to how the building looked from the inside-out. With this information, such as lighting position inside, gave the unique opportunity for the exterior rendering to have a full view access looking into the windows. This gave the building an even more dynamic look and feel, just as if you were viewing it in person.
BAS Equipment Graphics
QA Graphics also created specialized 3D equipment images that the client can place to update their building automation system graphics with and connect their information. Our 3D HVAC system graphics provides detailed cutaways of mechanical equipment that contain more animation and details than typically provided with BAS software. This provides an end user with little to no HVAC mechanical experience to be able to view their interface and know if a unit is in operation or is in need of repair.

QA Graphics' Employees Gain Advanced Revit Skills, Create Floor Plan Templates
QA Graphics, a leader in the building automation system (BAS) graphic outsourcing industry, continues to stay on top of competition by improving their skills with all day advanced Revit training with IMAGINiT Technologies. This lead our designers to create templates for QA Graphics new floor plan standards.
QA Graphics Drafters took time out of their busy schedule to participate in specialized Revit training with content focused upon aspects used to produce high modeling renders. The training was conducted on site at QA Graphics’ office by a certified instructor from IMAGINiT Technologies. During this on-site course, QA Graphics’ Drafters discussed design process, templates, and improved project set up for easy working and efficiency. Additional focus during the training session included detailed discussion for items such as stairs, curtain walls, massing, and ductwork.
Using all the learning tools provided will help QA Graphics Drafters continue to provide the best possible render for their client. The new floor plan templates will make defining the style of floor plan for a client simpler. Choosing the style and the level of detail that is included leads to an overarching better product and understanding on both the client and designer sides.
